Description

The all-new M9 Pro is ENVE’s flagship wheelset for gravity and downhill racing, embodying the pinnacle of athlete-driven development. While new to the aftermarket, it has already made a significant impact in the 2024 World Cup racing season, securing podium positions in every race and continuing the M Series' legacy as the most successful wheelset in World Cup downhill history.

The M9 Pro emerged from a rigorous four-year development cycle in collaboration with the Commencal/Muc-Off downhill program. The goal was to create a carbon rim that combined the damped, quiet ride of alloy with the strength and durability of carbon fiber. This new wheelset excels in contouring to the trail, providing a smoother, faster ride by handling bumps more effectively.

Objective improvements in the M9 Pro are notable: it is 77% more compliant and 20% more impact-resistant than its predecessor, the M930. Its ride quality stands out in the market, and its durability is unmatched.

A standout feature is ENVE’s patented Protective Rim Strip, a molded polymer strip that replaces traditional rim tape to create a tubeless seal. This strip acts as a bumper between the hard carbon rim and the tyre’s soft rubber, reducing the risk of cuts and pinch flats. It also isolates the wheel and tire air chamber, ensuring tyre pressure is maintained even if the rim is damaged. This allows ENVE’s athletes to ride confidently, knowing they can tackle the most challenging lines. It also gives peace of mind to any rider who wants the ultimate tubeless reliability, pinch flat protection, and rim protection, whether in a race situation or on long rides deep in the backcountry.

For E-mountain bike riders, the M9 Pro offers exceptional impact toughness and flat tyre protection, making it a top choice for those seeking reliability and performance. The wheelset features identical front and rear geometries, though the carbon laminates differ between them. With a 29mm inner-rim width, it accommodates various course conditions and tyre options.

  • DH, Enduro, Gravity Race, E-MTB applications
  • 29” - 2236g, 29”/27.5” - 2186g
  • Front and rear-specific construction and geometry
  • Inner-Rim Width Front: 29mm

Patented Protective Rim Strip
The M9 Pro features ENVE’s patented Protective Rim Strip, a molded polymer strip that wraps around the rim, replacing rim tape to create a tubeless seal. It creates a bumper between hard carbon and the tyre’s soft rubber to prevent the tyre from being cut, making pinch flats nearly impossible. It also isolates the wheel and tyre air chamber, and as a result, if the carbon rim structure is damaged, the tyre’s air pressure is maintained. This feature alone has allowed ENVE’s gravity athletes to ride the pressures they want, with the tires they want, in full confidence that they can ride the fastest, most efficient lines from top to bottom.

ENVE INNERDRIVE J-Bend Hubs
ENVE’s Innerdrive hub system refines and improves upon proven ratchet-driven technologies by increasing the diameter of the ratchets to allow for higher engagement without sacrificing durability. Supplied with an 80 tooth drive ratchet, riders also have the option of choosing 40, 60, and 100t ratchets to tune the hub engagement rate to their preferences. With the highest tooth count, Innerdrive hubs will engage in as little as 3.6 degrees. Further benefits of the Innerdrive system include ENVE’s Perfect Preload system, which delivers prolonged bearing life and minimal maintenance.

Unique Front and Rear Widths and Construction
Each wheel in the new M Series 5th Generation lineup features unique front and rear rim construction. The front rim is more compliant to allow the wheel and tire to contour over and around terrain, reducing the jarring sensations of repeated frontal impacts. The rear is firmer, to maximize power transmission and impact toughness. Even rims that look identical to the naked eye feature unique carbon layups and geometry details to truly dial in ride quality.

External Nyloc Locking Nipples
All M Series rims feature ENVE's patented molded spoke hole technology (US Patent # 8,313,155 B2), but now with external locking nipples. Each nipple is equipped with a Nyloc insert to keep spokes tensioned and wheels true.
