AMFLOW: Powerful Lightness, Ultimate Flow

AMFLOW: Powerful Lightness, Ultimate Flow

Aaron Cathro |

There’s a point where an eMTB stops feeling like a compromise between a mountain bike and a motor — and starts feeling like something entirely new.

That’s the thinking behind AMFLOW.

Born from a desire to combine advanced technology with the feel and freedom of a mountain bike, AMFLOW has built its bikes around a simple idea: more power, less weight, and a more natural connection between rider and trail. The brand describes this philosophy as “powerful lightness” and “ultimate flow.”

At Mission Cycles, that approach is what makes AMFLOW particularly exciting.

A different approach to eMTBs

AMFLOW was established in 2023 by a team of technology and mountain-bike enthusiasts who wanted to rethink what an electric mountain bike could be. Rather than simply adding more motor and battery to a conventional platform, AMFLOW set out to integrate technology, frame design and rider experience from the ground up.

The result is a range of eMTBs designed around the balance between power and lightness — giving riders the ability to climb harder and ride further while retaining the handling and responsiveness expected from a modern mountain bike.

And that philosophy has continued to evolve.

The AMFLOW PL: where it started

The AMFLOW PL established the brand's reputation as a lightweight, full-power eMTB.

With a carbon frame and the Avinox Drive System, the PL was designed to deliver substantial motor performance without the weight typically associated with full-power electric mountain bikes. AMFLOW lists the PL from 19.2 kg, with the Avinox M1 system delivering up to 120 Nm of torque in Boost mode and 1,000 W peak output.

That combination is important because weight changes how an eMTB feels.

A lighter bike can feel more agile through corners, more responsive when changing direction and more natural when riding technical terrain. Add the assistance of a high-output motor and you have a bike capable of tackling long climbs without turning the descent into something that feels cumbersome.

It's this balance that defines the AMFLOW concept.

The next generation: AMFLOW PX

For 2026, AMFLOW has pushed the concept considerably further with the PX Series.

Introduced alongside the new PR Series, the PX uses the next-generation Avinox M2S drive system, producing up to 150 Nm of torque and 1,500 W of peak power. AMFLOW has also introduced an adjustable geometry system offering 40 configurations, allowing riders to alter the bike's setup according to their riding style and terrain.

That's a significant step forward in what a lightweight eMTB can deliver.

The PX isn't simply about having more power. It's about making that power usable.

The combination of a lightweight chassis, high-output drive system and adjustable geometry is intended to give riders a bike that can adapt from fast all-mountain riding to more aggressive terrain.

AMFLOW PR: built for going further

The AMFLOW PR takes a different approach.

Designed for riders who want to spend serious time on the trail, the PR introduces an 800 Wh removable battery — a particularly useful feature for riders who need to manage charging away from home or want the flexibility of carrying an additional battery for longer adventures.

The PR also uses AMFLOW's adjustable geometry system and a mixed-wheel setup, combining a 29-inch front wheel with a 27.5-inch rear. The result is a platform designed to balance stability and rollover capability with the agility needed when the trail gets tight and technical.

For riders who see an eMTB as a way of exploring further rather than simply getting assistance up the next climb, that's a compelling proposition.

More than just a motor

One of the most interesting aspects of AMFLOW is that its technology isn't limited to the drive system.

The Avinox ecosystem incorporates connectivity and rider-focused technology alongside the motor. The Avinox Ride app can provide bike protection, ride data, assist adjustments and bike-status information, while the integrated display puts key information directly in front of the rider.

It's an example of AMFLOW's wider philosophy: technology should work with the bike rather than dominate the riding experience.

The goal is ultimately simple — spend less time thinking about the technology and more time riding.

So, who is AMFLOW for?

AMFLOW is for riders who want the capability of a full-power eMTB without accepting the traditional compromises that can come with additional weight.

It's for the rider who wants to:

  • Climb further and tackle steeper terrain
  • Keep the bike feeling agile and responsive
  • Ride technical descents with confidence
  • Cover more ground on a single ride
  • Use technology without losing the feel of a mountain bike
  • Push further into the mountains and explore more trail

Whether that's the lightweight all-mountain character of the PL, the power and adjustability of the PX, or the extended-range capability of the PR, the underlying idea remains the same.

Power should give you more freedom — not make the bike feel less like a mountain bike.
